Main Areas of Responsibility:
  • System and Process ownership of the specification process, including control of the flow of approved specifications and BOM’s to the appropriate External Manufacturing Manager for transfer to the appropriate external manufacturer or component supplier.
  • Key user, Trainer, System Administrator and technical Interface with Siemens. Technical lead with other internal systems (JBA, Cosmacs, LIMS).
  • Review and approve Specification and BOM changes as produced by Package Development, Product Development, Product Technical Support and Marketing. Note: approval for compliance – not content. Developer is responsible for content.
  • Evaluate and approve the “translation” of these documents by the external manufacturer into their format ensuring the accuracy and consistency of the details remains. Ensure flow to EM system is working. Establish/maintain communication system with

  • Assure that no unapproved or inaccurate specifications are transmitted to a supplier or external manufacturer to prevent the creation of parts or items that do not meet the design expectation and may lead to significant cost implications.
  • Assume leadership for the Specification Management Improvement Project through all phases until complete.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree in a scientific or engineering field or equivalent experience of at least 10 years.
  • Experience: minimum 8-10 years related experience.
  • Certifications / Training: Training in Engineering disciplines, BOM’s and specifications.
  • Time Pressures: Information must be in place in sufficient time to allow ordering and manufacturing to meet the STT.
  • Leadership: Must take responsibility for own projects, and be self-motivated.
  • Presentational Skills: This position is an important representative of EA Quality and has to be able to handle communications persuasively with vendors.
  • Technical: The applicant should be able to discuss and interpret technical data, Packaging Specifications, Formulary Specifications and be familiar with BOM structures.
  • Must be a self starter.
  • Computer / Technical Skills: Must be experienced in Microsoft Office. Experience in Interspec or other Specification Management Software a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication and computer skills are necessary.
  • Technical background necessary.
  • Good negotiating skills helpful.
  • Strong analytical skills a must.
  • Must possess ability to focus on extreme detail.
  • Some limited travel to suppliers and external manufacturers may be required.

Education:
