Elizabeth Arden Timeline
1908
On her first trip to Paris, Miss Arden took notice of the city's exquisitely fashionable women and recognized that they attended the theater and the opera with their lashes lacquered and their cheeks tinted with rouge. On her return to New York, she wasted no time introducing color cosmetics to her aristocratic clientele. Soon, makeup - which was reserved for stage actresses - became the height of fashion among the grande dames of society.
